Pet Microchipping

Hawaiian Humane Society provides a pet microchipping service. Pet owners must also register their information with the company that manufactured their pet’s microchip or a free online database such as 24 Hour PetWatch or Found Animals.
In 2022, the City and County of Honolulu replaced the dog licensing system with rules requiring that all pet dogs 3 months and older and cats 4 months and older must have microchip identification.
Cats six months or older who are allowed outdoors are required by law to wear a collar with an identification tag.

--The Salvation Army is suspending financial assistance distributions at The City and County of Honolulu Community Assistance Center at Waialua District Park as of April 7, 2026, with its Emergency Disaster Services pivoting to provide meals at county shelters during the current storm event.
Appointments previously scheduled for April 8–9, 2026 will be rescheduled. Upcoming distribution activities and locations will be announced to meet new and ongoing community needs.

The Salvation Army Hawaiian and Pacific Islands Division provides direct financial assistance, essential items, and emotional and spiritual care for those affected by the Kona Low in March 2026.
Call or email to schedule a screening interview. Appointments for pick up times are given after the screening interview. Pick ups will be at the City and County of Honolulu Community Assistance Center at Waialua District Park, 67-180 Goodale Avenue, Waialua, HI 96791 until April 9, 2026. Additional distribution locations on Oahu are being determined.

Adopt-A-Highway - Oahu

Administers public service program for volunteers from community groups, churches, or businesses who agree to pick up litter on a section of highway their organization has adopted. Volunteers pick up litter on the specified section of highway at least four times a year. Provides high visibility vests, trash bags and safety information for volunteers. Removes filled bags and heavy hazardous items from roadsides. Erects signs on the highways to recognize volunteers' cleaning efforts.
