The federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides crucial food and nutritional support to qualifying low-income and needy households, and those making the transition from welfare to self-sufficiency. The SNAP processing center provides public assistance, food stamps (SNAP) and financial assistance, to eligible individuals and families. They handle new applications and ongoing assistance. HNL Tool Library’s mission is to increase the resource wealth of our local community by providing a platform for sharing, education, and skill development. We provide a membership based community tool lending program for a monthly fee, which provides access to tools that might be unaffordable otherwise. You can borrow as many tools as you need to help you get the job done. You can borrow a tool for one week, and can renew tools for a second week if no one else reserves them. We also provide blades and bits, basic used consumables are free to borrow. New and specialty items are available for a small fee.

The Hawaii Justice Foundation provides legal service programs for legal service providers to persons with low income and conferences on access to justice issues for the general public.

Youth identified as requiring intensive mental health services may be enrolled with the Department of Health (DOH) Family Guidance Center (FGC) located in the school district of their home school. They are assigned an FGC Mental Health Care Coordinator (MHCC) at that time. The youth may, and often will, continue to receive School-Based Behavioral Health (SBBH) services and supports from the Department of Education (DOE) in conjunction with the intensive mental health services.

Hina Mauka objective is provide a comprehensive services delivery system of residential, day treatment and aftercare levels of care. Hina Mauka’s objective is to provide a separate track for co-occurring disorders consumers deemed appropriate. Another objective is to provide a longer term treatment perspective that incorporates the stages of change research to “meet the consumer where they are”. Cognitive restructuring techniques; motivational enhancement interventions and motivational interviewing techniques; relapse prevention; and other services are designed to help the consumer foster independence, connect to community-based services, and participate in support activities to increase stability.
