Provides a comprehensive recreational program in the community. Facilities include a multi-purpose building and a field. There are three program periods throughout the year: fall, spring and summer. Activities are geared for all ages, including classes in arts and crafts, Hawaiiana, games and sports, music, seasonal activities and crafts, and excursions. The Kauai Independent Food Bank (KIFB) makes referrals for food to the public (individuals needing food). Hawaiian Council is offering up to $5,000 in financial assistance to help individuals and families replace vehicles lost due to the recent floods and storms. This program is designed to restore mobility and support impacted households in returning to work, school, and daily life. Award amounts will be based on demonstrated need and the verified funding gap, up to a maximum of $5,000. Funds will help with purchasing a replacement vehicle, reimbursement of a vehicle that was already purchased, or help with an existing auto loan balance. The Respite Companion Program (RCP) is an employment and training program established by the department which provides part-time community service employment opportunities as Respite Companions for low-income, able-bodied adults age 55 years and older, who assist families provide care for the frail elderly in homes, in adult day care or adult day health centers. RCP is administered by the Department of Human Services, Social Services Division, Adult Protective & Community Services Branch. For those who qualify to be a Respite Companion, benefits include: Minimum wage (up to 19 hours a week); free pre-employment exam and annual physical exam, free bus pass or mileage reimbursement, paid trainings, job readiness counseling and resume writing assistance, free criminal background check. (St Francis Hospice) Nationally accredited by The Joint Commission, St. Francis Hospice, the state’s first hospice program, provides compassionate care and comfort for terminally ill patients in their homes, in nursing homes, and at our inpatient facility in Nuuanu. We make each moment count, enhancing the quality of life for patients, and their families and friends. St. Francis Hospice also has one of the most advanced bereavement services programs, offering support groups, walks in shopping malls, and other activities for families who have lost a loved one. St. Francis Hospice provides a specially trained, interdisciplinary healthcare team that may include a medical director, nurse, social worker, chaplain, hospice aide, volunteer, and bereavement counselor. The St. Francis Hospice care team focuses on each individual patient’s needs to ensure comfort and the best quality of life for our patients and their families.

The Home Maintenance Program does home improvements in partnership with family and community volunteers. When the project is completed, there is a 1-7 year “0” interest loan. The loan payments collected go into a revolving fund used to fund future home maintenance projects. Projects include installation of ramps and rails, stair repair, fence repair, gutter replacement, solar water heaters, appliance replacement, minor electrical and plumbing, window replacement, and termite treatment.

(Pregnancy Problem Center) The Pearson Place Pregnancy Resource Center provides support to women and men faced with difficult pregnancy decisions. Free pregnancy tests, referrals for free ultrasounds, information about pregnancy options, material resources, agency referrals and ongoing practical support provided.

(LEI) LEI is a HTA-sponsored workforce development project created by ClimbHI to inspire Hawai’i’s youth to select careers in the Hawai’i visitor industry by providing them with the necessary means to achieve success. From the student’s perspective, LEI represents an opportunity for Leadership, Exploration, and Inspiration, and from the hospitality industry’s perspective, LEI provides an opportunity to Lead, Expose, and Inspire Hawai’i’s youth. The program began in 2011 with 300 Hawai’i high school students spending a day learning about the hospitality industry and the value of graduating from high school and going on to pursue a post-secondary education. During the course of the day’s program, the students meet, learn, and experience job opportunities that the hospitality industry can provide. Students also receive advice on filling out job/college applications, resumes, personal finance, and support resources. Parents And Children Together (PACT) provides a confidential facility available around the clock for survivors and their children in crisis. Services include safety planning, case management, and referrals to legal, medical, financial, and housing assistance.
