A statewide community-based organization of over 150 organizations, agencies and individuals committed to preventing injuries to children and youth. -membership based organization -get together and come up with ways to prevent injury -partner with hospitals -brings members together -provides various inter-prevention programs: car seat safety, safe sleep, teen driving, bicycle helmets/pedestrian safety, water safety, poison prevention & sport safety Go onto to their website to see their calendar of inter-prevention events they hold throughout the state. (Alanon Family Group West Hawaii, Alateen West Hawaii) Al-Anon is a worldwide fellowship of those who feel their lives have been deeply affected by someone else’s drinking. The only requirement for membership is that there be a problem of alcoholism in a relative or friend. Members, who come from all walks of life, meet to share their experience, strength and hope in order to solve their common problems. Alateen is a recovery program for teenagers whose lives have been affected by someone else's drinking. (Women Infants and Children Nutrition Program) The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), is a federally funded program which provides Hawaii residents with nourishing supplemental foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and health and social service referrals. The participants of WIC are either pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum women, and infants and children under age five who meet income guidelines and have a medical or nutritional risk. Nutrition and Health Education: WIC will answer your questions about what to eat for a healthy pregnancy and help you plan family meals and snacks. Education and support for moms who breastfeed: WIC has specially trained staff to answer your breastfeeding questions. Ask for more information about our breast pump loan program. Nourishing supplemental foods: Checks to buy healthy foods such as: Milk, Peanut butter, Fruits and vegetables, Canned tuna or salmon, Juice, Whole grain breads, tortillas, Eggs or brown rice, Cheese, Baby foods, Cereal Infant formula, Dry beans or peas, Tofu, and soy milk Health and social service referrals: Help in finding health care and other community services.

Person wears emblem indicating medical condition and MedicAlert number. In emergency, medical personnel phone Medic-Alert to obtain information on file about the patient's medical history, medical conditions, medication and dosage information. If you are interested in becoming a resource family, contact Partners in Development Foundation (PIDF) Hui Ho’omalu, they are contracted by DHS. PIDF has partnered with Family Programs Hawaii (FPH), and a consortium of other community providers to form Hui Ho'omalu (A Group to Protect and Shelter), all working together to advance Hawaii’s foster care system. Recruits and certifies adoptive parent(s) for children needing an adoptive family. Recruits adoptive families for children who are a ward of the state. Provides adoption services for foster children.

Shelter of Wisdom rents homes which are shared by our men. Men live in double rooms with shared living areas and house chores. We provide intensive case management until our men are accepted into permanent housing. We provide household furnishings for their new homes, which are donated to us by the community. Men must maintain their sobriety, hygiene, medications, meal preparation, laundry, housekeeping and behavior.
