Oversees and manages solid waste disposal facilities and services.

(Donation campaign) Hawaiian Council launched Kakoo Mai, a coordinated effort to deliver immediate relief and ongoing support to those affected by this disaster. Kakoo Mai is a donation campaign to aid communities and individuals impacted by the floods and weather events beginning in March 2026. Funding will support evolving needs, including providing housing stability services, financial assistance, and other services to support impacted communities. Donations will be matched. Conducts surveillance and investigation of communicable diseases (other than tuberculosis, Hansen's Disease). Implements control measures necessary to decrease and prevent infectious disease. Provides information to the public about infectious diseases, travel information, immunization and general information on vaccination for childhood diseases. Also provides a patient referral letter for a free (STDs) chlamydia, gonorrhea or syphilis test.

Provides 24-hour care in licensed care homes to give families a rest from the care of elderly or disabled. Referrals can be for short term or long term.

Maintains information resources, i.e. books, magazines, musical recordings, video and audio tapes, State and County government documents and Hawaiiana materials. Provides fax service to send messages to State legislators. Provides access to wi-fi and telephone reference service.

Serves environmentally at-risk families. Participants include prenatal women and families with children birth to three years old. The infants and children are considered at-risk for child abuse and neglect and developmental delays. The program provides comprehensive home visitation, child development screening and intervention, as well as psychosocial assessment, and motivational readiness for treatment and brief counseling. The intensity of the program varies over the course of service, starting with weekly home visits, and reducing the frequency as the family and child meet their goals.

Housing for families, seniors, and seniors who are veterans.

Provides irrigation water to farmers.

(Community Program) The Kupu Community Program integrates environmental education, workforce development, and academic support to promote youth empowerment and long-term career success. Participants begin with hands-on malama aina training, gaining experience in natural resource management, while also working toward educational goals like high school completion or GED/HiSET certification. Throughout the program, participants are introduced to an array of workforce development and job readiness opportunities. Kupu provides transitional employment opportunities by offering paid positions with our Kupu Culinary Program or other programs and partnerships.

Provides care coordination to target populations. Participates with communities to problem-solve health issues. Provides education in women and child health, chronic diseases, etc. Facilitates access to health care. Conducts screening tests and source/contact investigations on tuberculosis (TB) cases. Provides health services in public schools, consultation services to private schools, day care, and residential care homes.

(C.O.R.E., CORE, Crisis Outreach Response and Engagement) City and County of Honolulu Honolulu Emergency Services Department's Crisis Outreach Response and Engagement (CORE) responds to non-emergency, non-violent, non-emergent medical assistance crises reported by community.

(Family Visitation Center - Kauai) Family Visitation Centers provide a safe, neutral setting for children to visit with their non-custodial parents or transition from one parent to the other. After a divorce or separation, family visitation services may be arranged by agreement of both parents and by court order.

(DHS Return to Homeland Program) Assists eligible Hawaii resident aliens and naturalized citizens in returning to their homelands outside of the United States. This service is not for temporary relocation or vacation but to permanently return to live there. Call for further information and other requirements.

Provides social services and help with resettlement. Provides social and cultural support to all Khmer refugees and interpreters in Khmer language.

(Lanakila Meals on Wheels) Lanakila Meals on Wheels is Oahu's largest and only island-wide home delivery meal service program for seniors and people with disabilities, serving over approximately 200,000 meals each year. Provides frozen meals once a week delivered right to your front door. Someone must be home to accept deliveries usually Monday-Friday 8:30 am - 1:00 pm. Please inquire about fresh produce home delivery. You may be eligible through the City and County Aging and Disability Resource Center or your health insurance provider for free meal service. Private pay via credit/debit card, online pay, check or SNAP EBT card available.

Offers an education program for parents and children ages 6-17 (who lived together as a family unit) and who are going through separation or divorce. Pre-registration is required.

Provides a business library serving state of Hawaii. Services include: Walk-in library research, Internet access (free), digital and print reference, in-depth research (fee-based), inter-library loan, company information, startup information, statistics, demographics, trade information, web help, and misc. information questions related to business. The Ulupono Family Strengthening Program provides family support, referrals and resources to families on Oahu from birth to 17 years old to promote positive parenting, safe and secure home environment, and healthy child development.

Scholarships are given as a reimbursement for the tuition of college-level courses in early childhood education, for Professional and Career Education for Early Childhood (PACE) classes taken if converted to college credits, or for direct assessment fees in obtaining a Child Development Association (CDA) certificate. Scholarships are available for anyone who successfully completes the above (Fiscal year basis & based on availability of funds). Addresses the following key areas: healthy community development (coalition development, community health organization, community strategic planning, facilitation, assisting grant writing, needs assessment, evaluation methodology in community health), risk reduction (includes tobacco prevention/education, physical activity promotion, chronic dieases, and injury prevention and control). Conducts community and professional education and training in public health education practices, methodology, and principles. Provides consultation and technical assistance in public health education. Provides specialized training in child passenger safety (certified technician and instructor).

(RMHC Hawaii) Provides a home away from home for families of seriously or critically ill children receiving medical treatment in Honolulu hospitals. Provides affordable housing in an environment where families receive the support from the staff and other parents of seriously ill children.
