Also gives public advice on small animals and insects causing a problem in or near a home or building such as mice, roaches, flies, gnats, mites, rats, and nesting birds. Offers information and advice to individuals experiencing pest problems. Accepts birds that the public drops off for West Nile testing.

Purple Van Food Program
The Private Sector Hawaii serves the North Shore of Oahu only: Mokuleia, Waialua, Haleiwa, Sunset Beach, Kahuku. Food boxes are delivered after an individual calls and requests a box. A recipient must call every time they need a food box. Our goal is to deliver the box within a week of a call, though we have been behind due to increased requests. Recipients can expect to receive one food box a month. This is an all volunteer charity and we deliver food boxes as volunteers are available. If someone has an emergency need for food, we will get a box to them immediately. No on site distribution.

Domestic Abuse Shelter - East Hawaii Island
(Domestic Violence Shelter, Domestic Abuse Shelter - Hilo) Domestic Abuse Shelters provide a safe haven for abused partners and their children. It is a time-out period for abused partners to learn about the dynamics of domestic violence, the cycle of abuse and how to develop a "safety plan". It is also a time for learning about and making choices; discovering that they are not at fault for the abuse; building self-esteem and learning self-empowerment.
The Domestic Abuse Shelters help families and children escape from domestic violence and establish independent lives. The shelter offers up to 120 days of a safe haven, basic needs (food, clothing etc.), counseling and services for children. Program participants learn dynamics of domestic violence, develop safety plans, improve self-esteem and learn healthy parenting skills. Children develop safety plans and learn they’re not responsible for domestic violence.

Health Insurance Marketplace
(Health Insurance Exchange) The Health Insurance Marketplace is for people who don’t have health coverage. If you don’t have health insurance through a job, Medicare, Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), or another source that provides qualifying coverage, the Marketplace can help you get covered.
Navigators help families and those in underserved communities gain access to health coverage options by helping them complete their Marketplace applications, access financial assistance through HealthCare.gov, and enroll in coverage through the Marketplace, Medicaid, or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
Open enrollment starts November 1, 2022 for coverage that starts January 1, 2023
Consumers can enroll in quality and affordable health care coverage.
