Established in 1839 under the Kingdom of Hawaii, the Maui District Health Office is an extension of the State of Hawaii Department of Health for the County of Maui. The county includes the islands of Kaho`olawe, Lana`i, Maui and Moloka`i. The Maui District Health Office services its island community by providing resources and expertise in areas such as vital records (birth, death, marriage and divorce), Family Health, Public Health Nursing, Environmental Health, Family Guidance (mental health), Tuberculosis, HIV and STD and Emergency Preparedness.

Provides care coordination and contracts out to Department of Health awarded private providers, community-based, child-focused and family-centered comprehensive behavioral health care. Serves children, adolescents and their families who may suffer from a variety of emotional, behavioral or social adjustment problems. Provides evaluation, treatment planning, direct treatment and case management through contract providers. Provides consultation to Department of Education personnel and private agencies.

Helps people learn the art of speaking, listening, and thinking. Devoted to making effective oral communication a worldwide reality. Provides a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which each member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills.

(HTO) The Hawaii Tax Online website will let you file and pay your taxes, view and manage your account, check on your income tax refund status with the Where's My Refund Search, and search for business tax licenses using the Search Tax Licenses feature. PDF copies of tax forms avaiable online. Libraries have paper copies of tax forms.

(MEO) Provides up to 6 months of case management that includes developing an individual service plan, budget preparation, assistance with job retention and job skill development, and other counseling. In addition to case management clients may receive up to a maximum of $3500 in rental assistance. This is structured for a six month period with the first month's rental not to exceed $1200.

(Ho'olanani) Provides overnight shelter includes shower, meal, bed, clothing, referral to social services.

Homeowner Assistance Loans are available to help Native Hawaiian first-time homebuyers purchase land, pay for septic systems, homesites, construction, or down payment and closing costs.

Private school includes grades PK-12th grade for boys and girls.

Provides special language assistance and support services for students whose first language or dominant home language is not English. Bilingual school/home assistants link parents with school.

Assists persons recovering from mild to catastrophic strokes who may need to make major physical and psychological adjustments to cope with paralysis, speech problems, cognitive deficits, swallowing disorders, and visual perception difficulties. Assesses and treats swallowing disorders. Provides mobility training or wheelchair skills. Develops adaptive techniques and custom-designed equipment. Provides speech theraphy. Computer therapy for visual, perceptual, and cognitive training. Stroke Support Group meets every first Tuesday of each month from 10:00 am - 11:30 am at the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific. Everyone (patient, family, caregivers, etc.) is welcome, there is no membership fee.

(OSHA) COVID-19: Please refer to the guidelines/directions from the Centers of Disease and Prevention Control as well as the guidelines/directions and orders/proclamations from the government for more information. OSHA cannot enforce the Covid-19 guidelines/directions/orders/proclamations. Administers the Occupational Safety and Health Law and the Boiler and Elevator Safety Law. Conducts investigations of workplace catastrophes or fatalities and employee complaints regarding workplace hazards. Provides consultation to employers and training to employers and employees to encourage voluntary compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Law standards and rules. Inspects boilers, pressure systems, amusement rides, elevators and similar equipment.

Provides a statewide information and referral line. Helps direct callers to community organization that provide the services they are looking for. Program also provides emergency fund to assist Native Hawaiians to those that are eligible.

KHP is a non-profit substance misuse treatment and recovery support Center with a focus on Native Hawaiian cultural values. Provides Outpatient treatment and support services for Molokai residents in early recovery from alcohol and other drug addictions. Also provides 12-step meetings and faith-based recovery support meetings. Provides urine analysis (UA) Testing for youth up to age 18 and adults. Able to provide alcohol and other drugs (AOD) assessments for driving under the influence (DUI) or treatment appropriateness for a fee. KHP has programs for Pregnant and/or parenting Women with children who want to engage in outpatient treatment. Also, persons with a co-occurring mental health diagnosis and a substance use disorder can join dual diagnosis treatment groups. KHP has an emergency food pantry open on Tue and Thurs after 12:30pm. Other culturally respectful services offered: 1. Addiction treatment (Intensive Outpatient, Outpatient, Motivational Pre-treatment, Continuing Care) 2. Substance Abuse Assessments 3. Referrals for related services (Mental Health, Shelter, Detox, Drug Court, Rx support, etc) 4. Drug use testing (UA, Lab, Oral) 5. Impaired Drivers Classes for those with court compliance needs (Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program SARP) 6. Transportation to access recovery 7. Peer-driven motivational enhancement pre-treatment outreach and mentorship with Recovery Partners 8. Community Service opportunities (civic pride and court related) 9. Victory Farm -Sustainable agricultural project 10. Emergency food pantry services with the Maui Food Bank 11. Temporary sober living for single adults after 30 days of recovery who may need a safe start 12. Assistance to send a participant to residential treatment off island (if funds permit) Ka Hale Pomaika’i offers their office as a Recovery Community Center serving as a forum for support such as 12-step meetings, Ohana gatherings and learning circles with Kupuna. All services that KHP offers are conducted with a focus on Native Hawaiian traditions and values.

Non-partisan political organization working for open, honest, accountable government, and to make government more responsive to the needs of citizens. Members lobby, monitor, and research. Academic credit available to students.

Offers an annual volunteer training program. Holds informational meetings regarding the training and sets up interviews with each interested person. After initial screening, potential volunteers attend 36 hours of training held over the course of one month. Sessions focus on educating the group about death and dying, grief and bereavement. Through teaching active listening and doing extensive role-playing, volunteers learn about the various stages of the dying process.

Operates a comprehensive treatment program for chemically dependent adult men and women. Length of stay varies, based upon the severity of addiction and response to treatment. Includes individual, group, family counseling, and psycho-educational skill building seminars. Family participation is strongly encouraged. Operates an after-care program for former clients.

Assists German citizens who are living in or visiting Hawaii (medical problems, legal issues, etc.). Provides information to travelers to Germany.

Maintains a botanical garden with varieties of plants that conserve water. Tour also includes information on water-saving irrigation systems, mulches, and other xeriscape ideas. Group tours are available by appointment only. Honolulu Board of Water Supply and Friends of Halawa Xeriscape Garden offer educational workshops that feature xeriscape plants and gardening techniques that will help to conserve water outdoors.
