(WWWBWS) Hawaii Agricultural Foundation provides teacher workshops in partnership with the Hawaii State Department of Education (HIDOE) and are free for HIDOE members. Registration is required through Learnsoft (via the HIDOE dashboard). Unless otherwise noted, Learnsoft Learning Object ID and Instance details will be provided soon. Teacher trainings happen throughout the school year (once or twice a year). Dates for trainings are listed on our website and space is limited. Attending teachers receive the Where Would We Be Without Seeds curriculum along with classroom supplies. Those who implement the program with students are also eligible for a HAF-sponsored field trip to a local agricultural site. Where Would We Be Without Seeds is a standards-based curriculum that introduces elementary students to the fundamentals of agriculture through interactive lessons. Students explore how seeds grow into the foods we eat, why farmers are vital to our communities, and how agriculture sustains Hawaii’s future. By making the connection between the classroom and the land, the program inspires curiosity and respect for farming at an early age.

Hawai‘i Council for the Humanities seeks to use the public humanities to nurture the joy of learning, and inspire community and civic engagement. We aim to bring the humanities to hard-to-reach and nontraditional audiences across the state. Our goal is to improve the quality of life in Hawai‘i through public programs that apply the humanities to everyday lives to help strengthen communities and encourage civic dialogue. We provide grants in support of public humanities projects that: 1. Use humanities areas of study (philosophy, history, literary studies, etc.) to further community understanding of local, national, and world history, diverse cultural traditions and ethical issues (humanities public program grants). 2. The program also offers intensive case management services known as Pathway of Hope (POH). POH is for families who are ready to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty and move towards self-sufficiency.

(PGC Farms in Kunia, Pacific Gateway Center Farms in Kunia) Pacific Gateway Center provides 176 acres of farmland which are leased to farmers. The farmers work with the Social Enterprises Program to build their businesses selling produce such as cucumbers, varieties of tomatoes, squash, and beans, eggplant, okra, Thai chili peppers, avocado, and bananas.
