Assistance for essential needs such as rent, utilities, transportation, etc. up to about $500. No general financial assistance. No long-term financial support available. The Aging and Disability Resource Center is the source for individuals who are aging and have disabilities to get impartial information about support and services that help them remain living at home as long as possible with dignity and quality of life. The ADRC staff members provide Options Counseling. It's a process that assists you to make informed decisions to select the long term services and support you need to age well and maintain independence. The ADRC is for people of all incomes and ages, to help you make plans that carry out your individual needs and preferences. It is also a point of access for all publically funded long term support programs and benefits. ADRC is operated by the State of Hawaii in cooperation with the four county governments. Anyone who wants to explore their options for long term support and services, or for help to family caregivers, may also use the ADRC website to search an online database for options, or to request the ADRC staff to contact them.

After initial screening, potential volunteers attend 36 hours of training held over the course of one month. Sessions focus on educating the group about death and dying, grief and bereavement. The Drivers Program provides a comprehensive evaluation to assess the ability to continue driving or return to driving. The evaluation process is meant to maintain safety for our clients and the community. For those who have sustained a new injury, illness or diagnosis, the Drivers Program assesses abilities to reintegrate into the community by maintaining or regaining driving independence. Additional components of the program include a behind-the-wheel assessment, adaptive equipment consultation and optional additional training sessions. We determine the readiness to drive with an on-site clinical evaluation that includes a comprehensive interview, as well as cognitive, vision and physical assessments with Driver Rehabilitation Specialists. A Behind-the-Wheel assessment is to be completed at the recommendation of the Driver Rehabilitation Specialist.

Applications submitted after the deadline will be considered untimely, and DUA benefits may be denied unless the individual provides good cause for late filing.-- Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) is available for eligible unemployed employees, self-employed individuals, farmers, and fishermen engaged in business at the time of the disaster. Eligibility for DUA benefits is determined on a week-to-week basis for each week a claim is filed. Eligible individuals may receive DUA benefits beginning the week of March 15, 2026, through the week ending October 10, 2026.
