The federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides crucial food and nutritional support to qualifying low-income and needy households, and those making the transition from welfare to self-sufficiency. The SNAP processing center provides public assistance, food stamps (SNAP) and financial assistance, to eligible individuals and families. They handle new applications and ongoing assistance. (Mana'olana Emergency Homeless Shelter) Provides emergency shelter for homeless individuals and families. Offers case management to help link residents to resources in the community to help stabilize them and begin to rebuild their lives. Mana’olana Emergency Shelter and Transitional Housing is located adjacent the KEO office at 2808 Wehe Road, Lihue HI 96766. Also offers dinner meals, showers, sleeping and laundry facilities.

Provides comprehensive services to persons in acute mental health crisis or who are suffering from a serious mental illness. Provides psychiatric evaluation and treatment, counseling and psychotherapy, case management, outreach, crisis intervention, and psychosocial rehabilitation.

Our Brain Injury Program provides acute rehabilitation for patients who have sustained traumatic brain injury. We provide a comprehensive and individualized plan using an interdisciplinary team approach, working closely with patients and their families/caregivers to address specific needs and goals. Our patient-centered care model is focused on patients to maximize their potential. The REHAB staff also includes Certified Brain Injury Specialists (CBIS) who have the expertise and knowledge to work with special needs following a brain injury. We help patients schedule a follow-up appointment with their physicians in our Physicians Clinic so they can continue their rehabilitation therapy in our outpatient NeuroTrauma Recovery Program (NTRP). The NTRP is designed for patients recovering from a traumatic brain injury and provides comprehensive rehabilitation assessment and service for impairments in cognitive, psychosocial and physical abilities due to a traumatic brain injury. Caregivers and family members are provided with a three-hour Caregiver Education and Training (CET) prior to discharge, meeting with each member of the interdisciplinary care team to get hands-on training.

Youth Services groups are offered in both East and West Hawaii to both boys and girls ages 12-17 who are deemed perpetrators of harm. The focus of this group is to offer tools for reducing impulsive behaviors, improving self esteem and increasing the level of social competence as well as addressing the dynamics of adolescent victimization. The Youth Service groups are 20 weeks long and group is once per week; however, times and days of group may vary by location.

Salvation Army Hawaii has a 50 beds (cots) overnight shelter for adults only. Dinner is provided. Check in time Monday-Sunday 4:00 pm on a first come, first served basis. A maximum of 1 pet is allowed. Showers available with a shower trailer daily. No drugs, no alcohol allowed. Men and women will be separated.

(YWCA of Kauai Camp Sloggett) Operates camp for use by schools, churches, non-profit agencies, family groups and other organizations. Used for day-long or overnight workshops, seminars or training programs. Space available for tent camping. Situated in the lush forest of Kokee State Park is YWCA of Kauai Camp Sloggett. We offer a rustic and peaceful atmosphere in the heart of the 4,640 acre Kokee forest and the 1,800 acre Waimea Canyon State Park.

Establishes and implements vocational rehabilitation programs for Maui residents who have disabilities or who are economically disadvantaged. Provides diagnostic evaluation, training, community placement and other rehabilitation to improve and maximize their living standard.

Inspects food and food service establishments, milk plants, frozen dessert manufacturing plants, dairy farms, hotels and other multi-dwelling units, adult family care homes, intermediate care facilities, skilled nursing facilities, hospitals, public swimming pools, barber and beauty shops, mortuaries, embalmers, tattoo parlors and artists, massage parlors and other general public health nuisances.

(H2H, Hele2Work, Hele to Work) The staff of the Hele2Work Employment Program at the Institute for Human Services (IHS) provide job readiness and post employment follow up services, as well as job search assistance along with referrals to job training classes and vocational training programs when available for those who qualify to participate in them. All Hele2Work services are free to those in need who are homeless, or who are at-risk of becoming homeless if employment is not secured quickly.

Provides free information on legal topics such as estate planning, family law, employment and insurance issues. Uses volunteer attorneys to answer calls.

Protects and plants trees. Directs people on who to contact to report trees being removed from public property (not private property). Help to maintain landscaping in certain public areas. Concerned with all areas of beautification and preservation of parks and open spaces. We assist and support our branches across the state with environmental issues in their own communities. We are also concerned with illegal billboard and sign control as well as issues of livability and sustainability statewide.
