Kula Kamaliʻi Preschool
Through the school’s exclusive Hakalama literacy method keiki learn to speak ‘ōlelo Hawai‘i (Hawaiian language) within three to four months and often graduate with advanced reading and writing skills. Keiki also develop social, intellectual, leadership and perceptual motor skills through classroom lessons, field trips, cultural activities, performance opportunities and community service. Applications for the 2021-2022 school year are still being accepted based on availability, priority application period for the 2022-2023 school year is November 1st through March 1st.

Surfrider Spirit Sessions
Surfrider Spirit Sessions is a grassroots 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that mentors at risk and adjudicated youths. Our 8 week mentoring program surrounds adjudicated and at risk youths with positive adult and peer role models and uses a unique combination of Hawaiian culture, environmental awareness, surfing, eco-therapy, socialization, mentoring and educational activities to help teens develop new skills, enhance self-esteem, embrace new modes of thinking and break their cycle of errant behavior. We have seen many of our youths go on to college, pursue a career in the trade industry and maintain a clean life. Mentoring program is on the beach of Waikiki.

Court Diversion Services

(Kauai Teen Court) Teen Court is a collaborative effort between the Kauai Police Department (KPD), Prosecutor, County of Kauai, Family Court Fifth Circuit, Hale 'Opio Kaua'i, Inc, and youth serving public and private sector agencies to provide a diversionary program from Family Court for first time misdemeanor or status offending youth between the ages of 10 and 18.
Juveniles who have admitted guilt and are prepared to be sentenced by their peers will be given a hearing.
Teen Court judges selected from a pool of practicing judges, attorneys, and trained teens serve as court officers.
Sentences may include referral to mediation or anger management classes, substance abuse counseling, tutoring, or to a mentor.
All youth completing sentencing serve on at least three juries.
