(West Hawaii Processing Center - Ka'u) The federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides crucial food and nutritional support to qualifying low-income and needy households, and those making the transition from welfare to self-sufficiency. Hawaiian Council is offering up to $5,000 in financial assistance to help individuals and families replace vehicles lost due to the recent floods and storms. This program is designed to restore mobility and support impacted households in returning to work, school, and daily life. Award amounts will be based on demonstrated need and the verified funding gap, up to a maximum of $5,000. The City and County of Honolulu provides 10 public refuse drop-off locations: 6 convenience centers, 3 transfer stations and 1 landfill, around the island for residents to dispose of their household rubbish. The Back-to-School Brigade is an annual nationwide campaign by Operation Homefront that collects and distributes school supplies to eligible dependents of service members.
