Honolulu Habitat for Humanity

Home Build for those in need of a new home. Home Preservation for those in need to repair their existing home including making it ADA compliant. Honolulu Habitat for Humanity helps families build, purchase or repair their own homes. Families work alongside volunteers. The programs are financed through Honolulu Habitat's low to no interest mortgage program. Builds and renovates homes using volunteer labor and donated materials, at no profit and no interest. Homeowners repay the cost over a fixed time period; payments are recycled to build more homes. It requires homeowners to participate in construction as well as help other prospective homeowners build theirs. Volunteers assist with all phases of construction, social work, public relations, finance, and office support. The Honolulu ReStore sells new and gently used donated household, commercial, and business items to the public at a drastic discount; with discounts of 50% or greater than the average retail price.
