Launched in January 2020, the Service Excellence Certificate of Achievement curriculum provides fundamental skills for employment in the hospitality industry and beyond. The training marries our unique philosophy for world class service rooted in the Hawaiian culture with world renowned hospitality education from Cornell University. The curriculum was exclusively developed in partnership with the School of Hotel Administration at the Cornell SJ Johnson College of Business, one of the leading hospitality administration programs in the world, for the DOE’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) program. Upon completion of the program’s 9 lessons, students receive a Service Excellence Certificate of Achievement from Cornell University and ClimbHI. The program served 683 students and teachers in its first year, and is currently available for DOE CTE students. Scholarships are given as a reimbursement for the tuition of college-level courses in early childhood education, for Professional and Career Education for Early Childhood (PACE) classes taken if converted to college credits, or for direct assessment fees in obtaining a Child Development Association (CDA) certificate. The federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides crucial food and nutritional support to qualifying low-income and needy households, and those making the transition from welfare to self-sufficiency. The SNAP processing center provides public assistance, food stamps (SNAP) and financial assistance, to eligible individuals and families. They handle new applications and ongoing assistance. A paper copy of the application can be downloaded, printed, signed and submitted via US postal mail or dropped off in the drop box. Home Disaster Loan The United States Small Business Administration can lend up to $500,000 to homeowners to make repairs to their primary residences. Loans up to $100,000 are available to help homeowners and renters replace their personal property, including cars. The interest rate is as low as 2.5% for homeowners and renters with terms up to 30 years. Loan amounts and terms are set by SBA and are based on each applicant’s financial condition. Disaster loans have a 12-month deferment with 0% interest from the date of their first disbursement with no accrual. Applicants who are not ready to rebuild may extend the date of their first disbursement by notifying their case manager. Applicants now need to provide a written justification for physical disaster loans. -The SBA disaster loan may be used to relocate. Contact an SBA representative for more information. People who apply for an SBA loan and are approved are under no obligation to accept a loan. If they do not qualify for an SBA loan, they can be referred to FEMA’s Other Needs Assistance (ONA) program for possible additional assistance. Disaster Assistance Loan The US Small Business Administration (SBA) offers loans to mitigate against disasters like flood, wildfire, wind or earthquake. Those affected by a disaster can rebuild stronger by increasing their SBA disaster assistance loan up to 20% of the verified physical damage to make mitigation improvements. Generally, borrowers have 2 years after loan approval to request an increase for higher rebuilding costs, code-required upgrades or mitigation. People who apply for an SBA loan and are approved are under no obligation to accept a loan. Projects to consider: Flood Mitigation

• convert your lowest floor to flexible space less likely to be damaged in a flood

Wildfire Mitigation

• install a Class A fire-rated roof
• install ⅛-inch mesh screening over all vents to keep embers out of eaves and vents
• install noncombustible gutters, fences and gates
• remove roof and gutter debris that can be ignited by airborne embers
• replace single-pane windows with dual- or multi-pane tempered glass windows

Wind Mitigation

• strengthen structures to protect against high wind damage
• brace or upgrade to wind-rated garage doors
• upgrade to pressure-rated windows
• install hurricane roof straps
• install a safe room or storm shelter built to FEMA guidelines

Earthquake Mitigation

• strengthen and retrofit masonry buildings and concrete facilities that are vulnerable to ground shaking
• install window film to prevent shattered glass injuries
• anchor rooftop-mounted equipment

Is There Help Available for Refinancing? -SBA can refinance all or part of prior mortgages that are evidenced by a recorded lien, when the applicant (1) does not have credit available elsewhere, (2) has suffered substantial uncompensated disaster damage (40 percent or more of the value of the property or 50% or more of the value of the structure), and (3) intends to repair the damage. -Homes – Homeowners may be eligible for the refinancing of existing liens or mortgages on homes, up to the amount of the loan for real estate repair or replacement. Are There Insurance Requirements for Loans? To protect each borrower and the Agency, SBA may require you to obtain and maintain appropriate insurance. By law, borrowers whose damaged or collateral property is located in a special flood hazard area must purchase and maintain flood insurance. SBA requires that flood insurance coverage be the lesser of 1) the total of the disaster loan, 2) the insurable value of the property, or 3) the maximum insurance available. Parent Participation Preschool is a three-phased program for parents to assist in their child's transition from home to school. Each phase requires a different amount of participation. The children progress through the program based on their development and mastered skills not age. -Pueo (Phase 1): Children begin a foundational program where they are introduced to a more structured learning environment. The programs main focuses are colors, shapes, letter recognition, and more. The class meets twice a week for 2 hours. This class requires 100% parents participation. -Honu Phase 2): Children entering Honu possess some basic, fundamental preschool abilities and are inspired to work independently, explore academics, use their creativity, and learn the importance of a daily routine. Honu focuses on phonic, basic math skills and writing. The class meets two or three times a week for 3 hours. The Private Sector Hawaii serves the North Shore of Oahu only: Mokuleia, Waialua, Haleiwa, Sunset Beach, Kahuku. Food boxes are delivered after an individual calls and requests a box. A recipient must call every time they need a food box. Our goal is to deliver the box within a week of a call, though we have been behind due to increased requests. Recipients can expect to receive one food box a month. This is an all volunteer charity and we deliver food boxes as volunteers are available. If someone has an emergency need for food, we will get a box to them immediately. No on site distribution.

(DV Services for Families, DVSF) The Survivor and Children Support Services, (SCSS), focuses on supporting personal healing with families involved in both child welfare and domestic violence. SCSS provides an array of services to help families understand the difference between unhealthy and healthy family dynamics, strengthen parenting skills to include, learning how to better empathize with children's emotions, and become empowered by the use of community referrals. The SCSS Program's goal is to ensure and promote survivor safety and independence, and to strengthen child resilience.

Activities are geared for all ages, including classes in arts and crafts, Hawaiiana, games and sports, music, seasonal activities and crafts, and excursions.
