(Pu'ulu Lapa'au, Hawai'i Program for Healthcare Professionals) The mission of Puulu Lapaau, the Hawaii Program for Healthcare Professionals, is to promote patient safety and care by improving the health, well-being and effectiveness of healthcare professionals. We achieve this by offering confidential support and advocacy to healthcare professionals with potential conditions including substance use disorders, mental or physical illness, work-life imbalance and behavioral concerns. We also help determine fitness to practice and practice re-entry.

Transitional Apartment Program (TAP) provides housing for victims who need safety and support and are ready to go to school/work. Program participants learn dynamics of domestic violence, develop safety plan, improve self-esteem and learn healthy parenting skills. Children develop safety plans and learn they’re not responsible for domestic violence. Length of stay varies depending on individual needs and up to 24 months at the Transitional Apartments.

Prevents and protects persons and property against crime. Enforces county ordinances and state laws. Investigates missing persons, juvenile offenses and criminal activity. Coordinates traffic safety. Registers and issues firearm permits. Administers and promotes community education and prevention programs such as DARE, Law and Justice Awareness, Crimestoppers, Neighborhood Watch. Responds to after-hour child welfare (abuse) calls.

Legislates public policy through a nine member panel elected to a two year term. Responds to community priorities, schedules public hearings and receives public testimony.

The purpose of the Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) program is to enable eligible families to achieve economic independence and self-sufficiency. Kauai County Housing Agency's (KCHA) FSS program is the conduit between the client and the appropriate supportive services necessary to achieve independence. FSS case managers are assigned to FSS participants to make a proper assessment of strengths, needs and aspirations. The case manger will guide each client through a service plan which outlines short and long-term goals. Some of the services provided to families include: child care, transportation necessary to receive services, remedial education, job training and preparation, substance abuse treatment and counseling, training in homemaking and parenting skills, training in money management, training in household management; and any other services and resources appropriate to assist eligible families to achieve economic independence and self-sufficiency. Immigration and Refugee Services helps with documentation, housing assistance, food, etc. There is current agency recognition and staff accreditation by the Board of Immigration Appeals of the Department of Justice. Pacific Gateway Center's Immigration and Refugee Services helps with case management for pre-immigration through arrival. Newly-arrived Ukrainian families are welcome to call us for consultation on legal immigration and social services.

The Molokai Community Service Council (MCSC) is a multi-purpose non-profit organization that provides direct services to youth and families as well as facilities for economic development.
