(Women Infants and Children Nutrition Program) The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), is a federally funded program which provides Hawaii residents with nourishing supplemental foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and health and social service referrals. The participants of WIC are either pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum women, and infants and children under age five who meet income guidelines and have a medical or nutritional risk. Nutrition and Health Education: WIC will answer your questions about what to eat for a healthy pregnancy and help you plan family meals and snacks. Assistance Dogs of Hawaii is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that provides children and adults with disabilities professionally trained dogs that will increase their independence and enhance the quality of their lives. (DHHL Kupuna Rental Subsidy Program, Kupuna Rental Subsidy Program) The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands (DHHL) and the Hawaiian Council program to help eligible kupuna on the DHHL waitlist pay rent. Renters pay up to 30% of their total household income towards rent and the program may help with the remaining cost. Up to 12 months of rent subsidies with the option to renew based on available funds.

Roots Reborn provides extensive legal support to the immigrant community in Maui through pro bono and low bono services and partnership with experienced immigration attorneys. (TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens. The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households. Collects and distributes child support funds in all new divorce and paternity cases, newly modified orders, as well as those cases handled in the past. Legally establishes the identity of the father of children born out of wedlock. Obtains court and administrative orders for child support which are enforceable against parents who have a duty to provide support. Locates parents who are not complying with existing child support orders and enforces payment through wage assignment, income tax refund intercept and other legal means. Treats children with communication disorders whose needs can be met most effectively through a home therapy program and who are not eligible to receive therapy services through any other agency or program. Provides parent training in a home situation so that therapy is on-going. Works in close coordination with public and private agencies that provide services to children with communication disorders.
