Will investigate complaints in the following areas: advertising, art galleries, car rentals, charitable solicitations, collection practices, credit sales, door-to-door sales, health clubs, interest and usury, investment schemes, Made-in-Hawaii goods, refunds and exchanges, unaccredited degree granting institutions, unfair or deceptive trade practices, unsolicited goods, or undisclosed charges.

Offers family literacy programs to residents of housing projects Mayor Wright Homes (MWH) and Kuhio Park Towers (KPT) in Kalihi. Also offers family libraries, Saturday story hours, and age-appropriate activities for children, and free twice weekly English and computer classes for adults in public housing.

Maintains collection of information resources, literary, musical and artistic materials. Makes available to the community on a loan basis or as a special collection for research.

Susannah Wesley Community Center (SWCC) operates a multi-service center with services and programs for youth, families, individuals, newcomers, senior citizens, and other residents of Kalihi-Palama. Volunteer Legal Services Hawaii (VLSH) is the only organization in the state whose sole mission is to serve people in Hawaii with low to moderate income community through volunteer attorneys. Volunteer Legal’s pool of pro bono attorneys provide legal services in a wide range of civil matters, including divorces, paternities, custodies, child support, guardianships, adoptions, powers of attorney, wills, healthcare directives, landlord-tenant cases, collections, and Chapter 7 bankruptcies. Neighborhood Advice and Counsel clinics are being held in-person and via telephone. Clients are responsible for all legal deadlines associated with their case. We experience a high volume of calls. Please leave a brief message with your name, number, and brief description of your legal issue. Your call will be returned in the order it was received, generally within 48 to 72 hours.

(VLA) The VLA project focuses on disabled and elderly veterans and family members who are residents of the state of Hawaii and who want assistance with filing benefits claims with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Also offers referrals to volunteer attorneys through VLSH's pro bono program for legal advice and direct services for: Family Law, Tenant Rights, Collections and Bankruptcy, Estate Planning/Probate, Re-Employment and Community Service Program (Oahu only).

(Hale Ho'omalu - Maui, Hale Hoomalu) Transitional group housing is provided 24 hours a day, on-site and on-call. CARF accredited.

Serves as an informational resource for all EPA programs. Provides EPA materials to general public, Federal, Hawaii State and county government agencies, elected officials and environmental organizations. Conducts environmental outreach activities through Hawaii schools, community groups and environmental events. Developed teacher information packets of environmental lesson materials. Works to facilitate communication flow between Hawaii media and EPA personnel by assisting reporters in obtaining background information on news release subjects or directing the media to the proper Regional sources.

Operates an adult day health program which provides therapeutic services and treatments including nursing care, recreational therapy and social services. Designed for persons at risk for long term care placement. Accepts volunteers 16 years old or older, to assist in transporting residents, general office duties, music leaders, craft assistants, active games, religious services, pet therapy, ethnic groups, sewing craft projects, etc.

Project Vision’s SNAP outreach program helps with: -Application assistance - help completing SNAP applications -Benefit applications and renewals - help completing renewals for the SNAP program -Facilitating submission of the application to the DHS offices -Home visits to complete the application may be scheduled as necessary

Accepts and processes applications for liquor licenses. Enforces rules of the Liquor Control Commission and state liquor laws.

Maintains professional organization serving 1,800 physicians. Provides continuing medical education and evaluation of medical care. Participates in community health education and health screening projects.
