AmeriCorps State and National engages in grant-making to support organizations that see service as a solution to local and national challenges. Funded programs—at state service commissions, tribes, and local, regional, and national organizations—use national service to address community needs across a range of focus areas. Awardees receive funds on an annual basis.

(Easter Seals Hawaii Hilo Home and Community Based Services Program) At Easterseals Hawaii, we offer a comprehensive set of services for adults with disabilities and their families. We work to empower our clients to become more independent and participate fully in the communities where they live, work, and play. Services are delivered with dignity, passion, and the ultimate goal of self-determination. Program focus areas are enhancing independence, person-centered planning, social skills and enrichments, community integration and access, employment skills, personal care, and daily living skills. Adult Home and Community-based Services include group and individual services; employment services, Adult Day Health (ADH), Community Learning Service (CLS), Community Learning Service-Individual (CLS-I) for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities such as autism and down syndrome.

(PPA) The Partnership for Prescription Assistance brings together America’s pharmaceutical companies, doctors, other health care providers, patient advocacy organizations and community groups to help qualifying patients who lack prescription coverage get the medicines they need through the public or private program that’s right for them. Its mission is to increase awareness of patient assistance programs and boost enrollment of those who are eligible. It is a service available by phone and web site that acts like a clearinghouse, checking all known discount or free services to try and meet prescription needs by eligible callers or web inquirers.

Provides family practice and health care services. For assistance with medicaid applications or Hawaii Health Connector, call first. You can pick up medicaid applications at the other Kauai Medical Clinics.

Receives all reports of child abuse or neglect. Provides case consultation and assessment. Provides crisis intervention on behalf of children in need of immediate protection.

(PSI Helpline) Provides a helpline for support and local referrals for postpartum mental health, along with online information and support groups to help families, providers, and communities learn about the emotional and mental health of childbearing families. Website helps locate specialized support coordinators. The helpline connects callers to crisis hotlines, support groups, and events in that area. Helpline runs 24/7, but is staffed only during business hours. Callers may leave confidential messages anytime and staff will return them as soon as possible.

Provides access to tax-key map information. Provides current assessments and ownership records and assesses properties. Information provided on the phone is restricted to an owner's individual property. All other questions are handled in office. Processes collection of current and delinquent real property taxes. Information by this section is provided to all callers (collection agency).

Provides a national toll-free phone line to answer commonly asked questions on postal service, such as service hours, zip code and address information, and mailing rates. A caller attempting to reach a postal worker in Hawaii, or who asks a question that cannot be answered by Mainland operators, will be given a local number to call. Also provides U.S. Passports and voter ballot forms also available at several Post Office locations.

(Hispanic Link, MEO) Enlace Hispano translates to "Hispanic Link" in English. Provides cultural integration, translation, referrals, outreach, community events, substance abuse education and workforce development to the Hispanic community.

State of Hawaii Department of Education provides free or reduced prices for meals to school children unable to pay because of financial need. Others pay for daily lunches. Effective for the school year 2025-2026, students who qualify for reduced-price meals will receive one breakfast and one lunch daily at no charge, in accordance with Act 139, Session Laws of Hawaii 2025. While these students will still be categorized as reduced-price eligible under federal guidelines, their meals will be scanned as “Reduced – No Charge.” If a student would like to purchase a second meal or a la carte items such as milk, funds will need to be deposited into their account. Online payment is available at https://ezschoolpay.com. Prices for student second meals and adult meals at breakfast and lunch, have increased to $3.50 for breakfast and $7.50 for lunch. For students in a Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) school, the CEP program allows a school district, a group of schools or a single school to serve free meals to all students even if they do not qualify for free or reduced-priced lunch. (RAINN) The National Sexual Assault Hotline was the nation’s first decentralized hotline, connecting those in need with help in their local communities. It’s made up of a network of independent sexual assault service providers, vetted by RAINN, who answer calls to a single, nationwide hotline number. Also known as 1-800-656-HOPE

Kalihi Union Church provides a community outreach that includes food ministry.

Island-wide (Oahu only), curb-to-curb, and door-to-door transportation services for persons 60 years old or older to go to medical appointments, benefit appointments, group excursions, group and individual shopping, as well as other types of trips that enable independent living. The program uses vans with wheelchair lifts, ramps and sedans.

Jury trials are held in the Circuit Courts, which have general jurisdiction in civil and criminal cases. They also have exclusive jurisdiction in probate, guardianship and criminal felony cases, as well as civil cases where the contested amount exceeds $40,000. Circuit Courts share concurrent jurisdiction with District Courts in civil non-jury cases in which the amounts in controversy are between $10,000 and $40,000. Other cases heard by the Circuit Courts include mechanics' liens and misdemeanor violations transferred from the District Courts for jury trials.

Assisting in helping those interested in running a child care business to becoming licensed by the State of Hawaii. Providing guidance regarding setting up a child care business. Providing free training on child development, nutrition, health and safety issues. Providing information about resources available to providers, such as the USDA Child Care Food Program that assists in paying for meals served in daycare. Referring parents who are looking for child care to licensed child care providers. Maintaining connections with child care providers, professional child care associations, and other child care professionals as well as helping others build those relationships in the community. (CLDP, Team Based Opportunities) The Conservation Leadership Development Program (CLDP) is a paid program for early professionals interested in pursuing a career in conservation. In CLDP, members are selected by a Host Site (partner organization) that aligns with their skills and conservation interests. Serving in areas such as ornithology, botany, natural resource management, aquatic resource management, marine biology, Hawaiian cultural studies, agricultural science, and more, CLDP terms typically last from 6 months to 1 year, offering hands-on experience, professional development, and the opportunity to make a lasting impact in communities across Hawaii and the Pacific.

Playmorning (Nene) promotes social skills, creativity, literacy and fine and large motor skills for children, parent participation program, twice a week, $5.00 per visit or $25 a month.

(988, National Suicide Prevention Lifeline) Suicide prevention and crisis intervention service available to anyone in suicidal crisis or emotional distress. Callers to the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline are routed to the nearest accredited crisis center in the caller's area. 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline calls are answered by staff at over 200 accredited crisis centers across the United States who provide callers with crisis counseling and mental health referrals. The Lifeline’s Crisis and Text Chat Service routes chat visitors to a subnetwork of crisis centers accredited in providing online emotional support. (MEO) Provides accessible transportation service for the youth, elderly, disabled, and general public of Maui County. Services include non-emergency medical transport, demand response, and specialized service to also include 'fee-for-service" operations.
