The Department of Health Early Intervention Section (EIS) provides early intervention services to infants and toddlers below three years of age with special needs (developmentally delayed or biological risk). Biological risk means having a diagnosis/condition with a high probability of resulting in a developmental delay. Specialists support parents in helping their child develop in the following areas: COMMUNICATION: talking | understanding COGNITIVE: paying attention | solving problems PHYSICAL: sitting | walking | picking up small object SOCIAL & EMOTIONAL: playing with others | having confidence ADAPTIVE: eating | dressing self Family centered care principles guide providers in supporting the child and family. Services are provided within the child's daily routines and activities. A primary service provider and coaching model is used to teach parents and/or primary care givers strategies to support the child's development.

Represents State of Hawaii officials and employees in legal actions related to their state responsibilities in the matters exclusive to family court. Carries out the duties of the Family Law Division of the Attorney General (all cases heard in family court). Emphasis and focus on child abuse and neglect cases.

(Family Center and Immigrant Resource Center, Family and Economic Opportunity Center, C-BASED program, Competency-BASED Community School Diploma Program, Competency BASED Community School Diploma Program) The Economic Opportunity Center (EOC) provides workforce development, job readiness training, and financial literacy training for families and individuals who are underemployed or unemployed. EOC helps clients develop their potential, provides technical assistance, and assists in removing personal barriers to employment through one-on-one coaching. EOC partners with local employers to provide pipelines to employment for underserved workers.

Scholarships are given as a reimbursement for the tuition of college-level courses in early childhood education, for Professional and Career Education for Early Childhood (PACE) classes taken if converted to college credits, or for direct assessment fees in obtaining a Child Development Association (CDA) certificate. Scholarships are available for anyone who successfully completes the above (Fiscal year basis & based on availability of funds). (Hui Malama Ola Na Oiwi) We provide disease prevention and health promotion services through advocacy, accessibility, and education. We offer Case Management Services (such as home visits to conduct blood pressure checks, glucose checks, assistance with applications for medical insurance), and referrals to other health-related agencies. We also provide Health Education (Diabetes, Hypertension, Nutrition, and Tobacco Cessation), Traditional Healing Workshops and Classes, as well as one-to-one services by referral. Specialty Transportation provided to medical-related appointments (based on needs and availability)- for individuals restricted to a wheelchair or gurney.

(Maui Economic Opportunity Youth Bank, MEO Youth Bank) The MEO YOUTH SERVICES offers an After-School/Out of School Positive Youth Development Programming service. The programming activities allows youths in the 6th grade through high school age (up to 18 years old) to acquire the attitudes, competencies, values, and social skills that is necessary to carry them forward to successful adulthood. MEO Youth Services also assists the youths/young adults with skills to avoid choices and behaviors that will limit their future potential. The program focuses on Life & Career Skills development through culturally based, outdoor experiential activities, and meaningful Service Learning opportunities. MEO YOUTH SERVICES provides in-school prevention programs.

The Private Sector Hawaii serves the North Shore of Oahu only: Mokuleia, Waialua, Haleiwa, Sunset Beach, Kahuku. Food boxes are delivered after an individual calls and requests a box. A recipient must call every time they need a food box. Our goal is to deliver the box within a week of a call, though we have been behind due to increased requests. Recipients can expect to receive one food box a month. This is an all volunteer charity and we deliver food boxes as volunteers are available. If someone has an emergency need for food, we will get a box to them immediately. No on site distribution.
