(TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens. The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households. Mission: To restore meaningful, healthy lives for individuals and families coping with substance abuse. CARF accredited programs provide outpatient medication assisted and drug free treatment: methadone maintenance, suboxone (buprenorphine) and detox program, outreach, and interim services for persons addicted to opiates, pain killers, and illicit opiates in on Oahu and Hilo on Hawaii Island. In Puna on Hawaii Island, Native Hawaiian culturally based intensive outpatient and outpatient program provided. Cornerstone, located in Honolulu, provides outpatient, intensive outpatient and continuing care services. Trauma-Informed-Care environment.

(EAP) Employee Assistance of the Pacific (EAP) provides short-term counseling services including assistance with family, relationship and workplace issues through contracts with employers. EAP offers limited substance abuse counseling, assessment, and referrals, critical incident debriefings following workplace trauma, on-site trainings in selected areas, management consults for troubled employees and other workplace issues.

Provides volunteer opportunities to university students. Coordinates service learning programs throughout the state. We create projects as well as provide volunteers for projects already created by agencies.

The Molokai Community Service Council (MCSC) is a multi-purpose non-profit organization that provides direct services to youth and families as well as facilities for economic development. MCSC also runs the island's annual Friendly Isle United Fund campaign, which supports 20-30 non-profit Moloka'i projects each year. (Healthy Families America Lana'i) Home Visiting program for families who are prenatal or have a newborn in Maui County. We provide a variety of support including resource information, parenting information, child development information and community connection. Virtual services are available.

(Kapolei Early Intervention Program, Easter Seals Kapolei Early Intervention Program) Easterseals Hawaii provides individualized early intervention services to children under 3 with or at risk for developmental delays and their families. Services include: Development of an Individualized Family Support Plan (IFSP); Parent coaching and family support; Developmental evaluations; Resources, information, and referral services; Assistance to families in transition planning for their child’s transition into the Department of Education special education, Head Start or preschool. Treatment Focus Areas: Cognitive; Language and Communication; Physical; Development; Social and Emotional; Adaptive/Self Care. Program focuses on building a support team for the family and assisting them in meeting challenges via parent coaching and building a foundation of tools and strategies that parents need to support their child’s growth and participation in their community.

Maintains information resources, i.e. books, magazines, musical recordings, video and audio tapes, State and County government documents and Hawaiiana materials. Provides fax service to send messages to State legislators. Provides access to wi-fi and telephone reference service.

Offers day and/or overnight respite from 3 to 30 days for elders needing assistance and supervision.

(Maui Second Circuit Self Help Center Hoapili Hale) The Maui Court Self-Help Center will provide legal help to the community on a pilot basis. Volunteer attorneys from the Maui County Bar Association will provide limited legal information by telephone in areas such as landlord-tenant, family, and other district court matters. Access by telephone for Molokai, Lanai and Hana residents only when the center is open. The Center does not accept voice messages. Court Navigators for Lanaʻi, Maui, and Molokaʻi are now available by email In 2018, an in-person Volunteer Court Navigator Program was established in the Second Circuit (Maui County). Volunteer Court Navigators assisted unrepresented individuals at Hoapili Hale by answering questions concerning court resources, locations, and procedures. Note: Volunteer Court Navigators cannot provide legal advice or representation. The Volunteer Court Navigator Program has expanded to include services by email. Unrepresented persons can now submit requests for information to: [email protected] The Navigators will make every effort to respond to requests for information pertaining to cases in the Second Circuit (Lanaʻi, Maui, Molokaʻi) within one business day, although it may sometimes take longer to obtain the information necessary to respond to requests for information.

Works to improve and maintain individual and community health. Addresses the following key areas: healthy community development (coalition development, community health organization, community strategic planning, facilitation, assisting grant writing, needs assessment, evaluation methodology in community health), risk reduction (includes tobacco prevention/education, physical activity promotion, chronic dieases, and injury prevention and control). Conducts community and professional education and training in public health education practices, methodology, and principles. Provides consultation and technical assistance in public health education. Provides specialized training in child passenger safety (certified technician and instructor).
