(Act 278) The Mediation Center of the Pacific has been contracted to administer the Eviction Mediation Pilot Program. This two-year pilot program requires early and free mediation between landlords and tenants before eviction for nonpayment of rent. The program runs February 5, 2026 - February 4, 2028. Tenants have 10 calendar days to respond to an eviction notice. If a tenant requests mediation in 10 day notice period, then the landlord must participate before filing for eviction. Mediation sessions are online via Zoom or in person, per request. For landlords, visit the website for more information and to submit a Landlord Intake Form to start the process. (VASH - Kauai) Visitor Aloha Society of Hawaii (VASH) provides supportive services to meet the immediate and urgent needs of visitors to Hawaii Island who are victimized by crime, have medical emergencies, or suffer other adversities during their stay. Immediate needs may include assistance with canceling credit cards, providing emergency transportation, or garnering resources (soliciting donations) for food and lodging. VASH relies heavily on donations and community support. When needed resources are not readily available, we will make requests and network with other agencies to try and meet needs.

Offers complete family dentistry including exams, x-rays, cleaning, fluoride treatment, fillings, crowns, bridges, dentures, etc. Dental emergency treatments include dental pain and facial swelling relief and extraction.

(HCHP, CBCM-RS, Community Based Case Management- Recovery Services, Ohana Project Services, Shelter Plus Care) Health Care for the Homeless Project (HCHP) is offered at our Kaaahi street clinic and Kohou street clinic. The Kaaahi street clinic is at the Institute for Human Services (IHS) Homeless Shelter for Women and Families. Primary Care health services are provided to single women and families who are guests of the IHS Homeless Shelter, single men, and community members: Including adult medicine, chronic disease management, immunizations and flu shots, infant and well-child check ups, physical examinations, psychiatric counseling and medication management for adults, and women’s health.

Administers low cost, outpatient medical clinic which provides care for acute illness or injury as well as physical exams and immunizations for adults and children, assistance with health insurance applications. Provides family planning services and women's health care. Offers AIDS/HIV counseling. Operates a dental clinic, including pediatric care. Provides nutritional counseling for diabetics, pregnant women, and persons with high blood pressure or heart disease. Administers WIC (Women, Infants, Children) Program which provides supplemental food to pregnant, post partum, and breastfeeding women and children up to age five. Also offers programs on smoking cessation and relapse prevention to promote smoke free families. Accepts volunteers to assist with Youth Services, Elder Services, Medical, Dental,Roots Cafe, community gardens and reforestation (Ho'oulu 'Aina) programs, as well as in Administration and Women's Health.

Prevents and suppresses outbreaks of vector-borne diseases and serious vector nuisances through inspections, surveillance, monitoring, enforcement, consultation and education in the control of harmful vermin such as insects that bite or are a public nuisance such as ants, sand flies, and other insects. Also gives public advice on small animals and insects causing a problem in or near a home or building such as mice, roaches, flies, gnats, mites, rats, and nesting birds. Offers information and advice to individuals experiencing pest problems. Accepts birds that the public drops off for West Nile testing. They no longer spray for mosquitos.

Grants wishes to children 2 1/2 to 18 years of age with life-threatening medical conditions. Accepts referrals and volunteers.
