Manages public hunting areas, public hiking areas, forest reserves, wildlife sanctuaries, and natural area reserves. Accepts reports of forest pests, including new and unusual weeds and certain birds. Pest reports accepted include: wild pigs, snakes, large lizards, ferrets, the banana poka (a weed), the bulbul (a bird) on neighbor islands, and the mongoose on Kauai.

Kakoo Mai: Emergency Relief for Flooding

(Donation campaign) Hawaiian Council launched Kakoo Mai, a coordinated effort to deliver immediate relief and ongoing support to those affected by this disaster.
Kakoo Mai is a donation campaign to aid communities and individuals impacted by the floods and weather events beginning in March 2026. Funding will support evolving needs, including providing housing stability services, financial assistance, and other services to support impacted communities. Donations will be matched.

VASH relies heavily on donations and community support. When needed resources are not readily available, we will make requests and network with other agencies to try and meet needs.
