School-based programs are during or after-school and conducted in collaboration with school counselors. Programs offer therapeutic peer support groups that follow the Hawaii Department of Education (HDOE) public school calendar. Kids Hurt Too Hawaii (KHTH) is expanding school-based groups upon request from schools. Requirements include a dedicated therapeutic space for conducting groups at the school. KHTH provides the supplies and set-up as well as trains volunteers to assist if allowed with professional staff available at every group. Currently at Paia and Nanakuli. The program is expanding to other schools upon request. Currently helping elementary school aged children.

(Hiilei Developmental Screening Program) -Hi'ilei Development Screening Program - a free resource for children birth to 5 years old. The Hi`ilei program provides developmental screens and information for families. -Development - children grow and develop throughout their life. Early skills include smiling for the first time, waving “bye bye”, and taking a first step. As they grow, children develop more skills as they play, learn, speak, socialize, and move. -Developmental Screening - a developmental screen is a simple set of questions about what a child can do. It helps families find out if their child is developing like other children of similar age.

(YWCA of Kauai Camp Sloggett) Operates camp for use by schools, churches, non-profit agencies, family groups and other organizations. Used for day-long or overnight workshops, seminars or training programs. Space available for tent camping. Situated in the lush forest of Kokee State Park is YWCA of Kauai Camp Sloggett. We offer a rustic and peaceful atmosphere in the heart of the 4,640 acre Kokee forest and the 1,800 acre Waimea Canyon State Park.

(SSVF) HOPE Services Hawaii Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) promotes housing stability among veterans’ families with very low income who reside in or are transitioning to permanent housing. The SSVF Program may be able to provide the following services as they relate to housing stability: Outreach services, case management services, assistance obtaining VA benefits, assistance obtaining other public benefits and needed services within the community, limited financial assistance that is necessary to stabilize housing, assistance with housing searches, financial planning as it relates to stabilizing housing, health care services, daily living services, transportation services, fiduciary and payee services, and legal services.

Hina Mauka objective is provide a comprehensive services delivery system of residential, day treatment and aftercare levels of care. Hina Mauka’s objective is to provide a separate track for co-occurring disorders consumers deemed appropriate. Another objective is to provide a longer term treatment perspective that incorporates the stages of change research to “meet the consumer where they are”. Cognitive restructuring techniques; motivational enhancement interventions and motivational interviewing techniques; relapse prevention; and other services are designed to help the consumer foster independence, connect to community-based services, and participate in support activities to increase stability. Hina Mauka’s objective is to provide a specifically designed curriculum with skill building and process groups that are designed to facilitate a change in thought processes, attitudes, values and behaviors that promotes a greater degree of personal responsibility.

(TANF, TAONF) The federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program provides temporary cash assistance to eligible families. The monthly cash assistance given to families may be used to pay for food, clothing, housing and utility expenses, and other daily needs. Eligible families include at least one specified relative adult and a minor dependent child who resides in the same home. In addition, family members must be US citizens. The State of Hawaii Temporary Assistance for Other Needy Families (TAONF) Program provides the same benefits and services to Hawaii’s vulnerable families with children as the TANF program. The TAONF program eligibility includes mixed citizens and non-citizens, and single- and two-parent households. (Women Infants and Children Nutrition Program) The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), is a federally funded program which provides Hawaii residents with nourishing supplemental foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and health and social service referrals. The participants of WIC are either pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum women, and infants and children under age five who meet income guidelines and have a medical or nutritional risk. (NDR, March 2021 Flood) Nazarene Disaster Response (NDR) is a volunteer service responding to victims of natural and human-made disasters. It serves them regardless of race, creed, or economic status by concentrating on assistance to the poor, elderly, and handicapped, providing cleanup and restoration assistance for relief and reconstruction, enabling disaster victims to resume a normal life pattern. (WSPAP) The Western States Pension Assistance Project is a pension counseling project within Legal Services of Northern California (LSNC) that provides services free of charge, serving callers of all ages and income levels who live or have worked in California, Arizona, Nevada or Hawaii. There are no age or income requirements to this project. The team helps clients to understand their retirement plan rights and claim the benefits they have earned, regardless of the type of company or retirement benefit involved. They also assist with tracking down benefits from previous employers, working through the claims and appeals process, helping clients understand their rights as a former or surviving spouse, correcting pension benefit calculations, and addressing overpayment demands.

The Department of Health Early Intervention Section (EIS) provides early intervention services to infants and toddlers below three years of age with special needs (developmentally delayed or biological risk). Biological risk means having a diagnosis/condition with a high probability of resulting in a developmental delay. Specialists support parents in helping their child develop in the following areas: COMMUNICATION: talking | understanding COGNITIVE: paying attention | solving problems PHYSICAL: sitting | walking | picking up small object SOCIAL & EMOTIONAL: playing with others | having confidence ADAPTIVE: eating | dressing self Family centered care principles guide providers in supporting the child and family. Services are provided within the child's daily routines and activities. A primary service provider and coaching model is used to teach parents and/or primary care givers strategies to support the child's development.

Provides a fun and educational program for children and young adults to build character, to train in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and to develop personal fitness. Promotes and encourages youth of all ages to participate in group and outdoor activities.
