Provides protective services to abused, neglected, or financially exploited dependent adults, 18 years and older. Takes action, with client consent, to prevent further abuse from occurring. Action taken may involve placement into adult day care centers, residential care homes, chore services, and/or counseling and other supportive services to adults.

Three meals per day are prepared at our Sumner Men’s Shelter and served across our 10-shelter network. Help prepare and serve meals at the men’s shelter. This volunteer position is great for individuals or groups, as each shift accommodates up to 5 volunteers. Shifts are available 3 meals per day, 7 days per week.

Provides a national toll-free phone line to answer commonly asked questions on postal service, such as service hours, zip code and address information, and mailing rates. A caller attempting to reach a postal worker in Hawaii, or who asks a question that cannot be answered by Mainland operators, will be given a local number to call. Also provides U.S. Passports and voter ballot forms also available at several Post Office locations.

Provides developmentally appropriate play activities for hospitalized children. Conducts pre-operative tours to minimize stress and anxiety for child/family related to illness, hospitalization or medical encounters. Coordinates volunteer activities in playroom. Conducts interventions to prevent emotional trauma. Available to all patients.

Provides electrical connection, disconnection and repair services.

Parents And Children Together (PACT) offers safe, compassionate, and confidential support in three counties for youth and families coping with serious behavioral, social, and emotional challenges. Our evidence-based therapeutic models focus on family networks and relationships, school or job performance, peer connections and relationships, and community networks of support. (E-Kokua Club) The Epilepsy Foundation of Hawaii (EFH) offers a free membership to the E-Kokua Club to children, teens, adults, and caregivers. Through monthly cultural healing activities (hula, lei-making, ukulele, art therapy), peer support groups, and seizure first aid education, the E-Kokua Club provides a welcoming, stigma-free community where families can learn, connect, and thrive. In addition, EFH is the local manager of the National Epilepsy Helpline for Hawaii. Provides technical assistance to plant materials centers. Identifies conservation needs and priorities. Scientists and researchers work closely with the state and federal agencies, commercial firms, and seed and nursery associations.

Provides health services for eligible women veterans. Women Veterans Coordinator is available to provide services to women.

Offers assistance in new home construction and home repair loans, homestead leases to qualified native Hawaiian applicants. Assists in development of farms and ranches.

(Food Pantry) Saint William Church provides emergency food boxes once a week. Walk-in for free clothing.

(WSPAP) The Western States Pension Assistance Project is a pension counseling project within Legal Services of Northern California (LSNC) that provides services free of charge, serving callers of all ages and income levels who live or have worked in California, Arizona, Nevada or Hawaii. There are no age or income requirements to this project. The team helps clients to understand their retirement plan rights and claim the benefits they have earned, regardless of the type of company or retirement benefit involved. They also assist with tracking down benefits from previous employers, working through the claims and appeals process, helping clients understand their rights as a former or surviving spouse, correcting pension benefit calculations, and addressing overpayment demands.

(Teenlink Hawaii) TeenLink Hawaii (TLH) is a youth-focused program promoting positive youth development through peer leadership and support, access to relevant information and resources, and connection to a caring network. The TLH website serves as home base for the program and provides credible, evidence-based information regarding teen issues and interests. The vast spectrum of subjects and resources encourages a comprehensive literacy and empowers youth to make safe and well-informed decisions.

(US VETS Wai'anae, Waianae Civic Center - Pai'olu Kai'aulu - Veterans' Shelter) Provides shelter for homeless families and individuals.

Works with children of West Hawaii who have been traumatized by sexual assault, physical abuse or neglect, or who are witnesses to violent crime. Goal is to "help a victim become a child again."

Scholarships are given as a reimbursement for the tuition of college-level courses in early childhood education, for Professional and Career Education for Early Childhood (PACE) classes taken if converted to college credits, or for direct assessment fees in obtaining a Child Development Association (CDA) certificate. Scholarships are available for anyone who successfully completes the above (Fiscal year basis & based on availability of funds).
