Services focus on health promotion, health education, health care services and research. We provide disease prevention and control services, health screening, health advocacy, outreach, traditional healing, fitness and nutrition programs, tobacco cessation, health insurance application assistance, cancer navigation, primary medical care, and dental care.

Established in 1839 under the Kingdom of Hawaii, the Maui District Health Office is an extension of the State of Hawaii Department of Health for the County of Maui. The county includes the islands of Kaho`olawe, Lana`i, Maui and Moloka`i. The Maui District Health Office services its island community by providing resources and expertise in areas such as vital records (birth, death, marriage and divorce), Family Health, Public Health Nursing, Environmental Health, Family Guidance (mental health), Tuberculosis, HIV and STD and Emergency Preparedness.

(Domestic Violence Services for Families) When child abuse occurs in the home, violent behavior towards spouses and others is also often present. After a family is required to enter the child welfare system and is discovered to be experiencing other forms of domestic violence a care plan is developed for each family member. Services are then provided for both survivors (victims) and batterers (perpetrators) of violent behavior. Survivors create a safety plan and are offered various supportive services. Batterers are assessed and provided opportunities to learn alternative attitudes and behaviors. This program works with families involved in the child welfare system who are also experiencing domestic violence. Staff work with each family to assess for domestic violence and/or risk factors related to domestic violence. A care plan is developed for each family member. The services that are available for each family include: Domestic Violence Survivor Support and Pattern Changing Groups for Victims, Individual Counseling and Support for each family member, Trauma Focused – Cognitive Behavioral Therapy focusing on children, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Children’s Support Groups, and/or Adolescent Support Groups.

Regulates the manufacture, importation, sale and consumption of intoxicating liquors. Oversees liquor license applications. Hears and determines all complaints regarding violations of the liquor control laws of the state, or complaints regarding violations of rules and regulations established by the Liquor Commission. Imposes fines or punishment as may be provided by law. Adopts rules and regulations which have the effect of laws in the county. Enforces the provisions of the liquor laws. Grants, renews or refuses applications for liquor licenses. After an establishment has a liquor license, Commission investigators make periodic checks at the establishment. Serves as an informational resource for all EPA programs. Provides EPA materials to general public, Federal, Hawaii State and county government agencies, elected officials and environmental organizations. Conducts environmental outreach activities through Hawaii schools, community groups and environmental events. Developed teacher information packets of environmental lesson materials. Conducts speaking engagements at schools for all grade levels and the general public. Works to facilitate communication flow between Hawaii media and EPA personnel by assisting reporters in obtaining background information on news release subjects or directing the media to the proper Regional sources.

(Alanon Family Group East Hawaii, Alateen East Hawaii) Al-Anon is a worldwide fellowship of those who feel their lives have been deeply affected by someone else’s drinking. The only requirement for membership is that there be a problem of alcoholism in a relative or friend. Members, who come from all walks of life, meet to share their experience, strength and hope in order to solve their common problems. Alateen is a recovery program for teenagers whose lives have been affected by someone else's drinking.
