Best Buddies Middle Schools and High Schools fosters one-to-one friendships between students with and without Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). Students with IDD are often isolated and left out of social activities. Best Buddies helps to create an inclusive school climate for students early on in their educational development. The middle school and high school years are a time of heightened social and emotional development and can be difficult even for those without IDD. Best Buddies helps break through social barriers at an important time in a young person's life.

(Hawaii Humpback Whale Watch, Hawaii Whale Sanctuary, Hawaii Whale Watch, NOAA Whale Rescue, NOAA Whale Watch) The Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary, which is jointly managed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the State of Hawaii, lies within the shallow warm waters surrounding the main Hawaiian Islands and constitutes one of the world's most important humpback whale habitats. Through education, research and resource protection activities, the sanctuary strives to protect humpback whales and their habitat in Hawaii.

Provides volunteer training and volunteer opportunities. Volunteer tasks include kitchen preparation for food/cooking, cleaning, sorting, packing food, maintenance, repair and office work.

Kalihi-Palama Health Center offers free family planning educational presentations to all ages and settings within the Oahu community upon request. (Easter Seals Hawaii Home and Community-Based Services, Easter Seals Hawaii Honolulu Services Center Adult Day Health Program) Adult Day Health (ADH) focuses on providing a small group environment that fosters growth, and challenges the adult participant to increase independence in a variety of community settings. Emphasis is placed on individual choice, allowing adults to pursue opportunities that match their interests and skills while promoting their dignity and independence. The program provides daily respite for individual and family caregivers as well as provides participants with educational, social, health and recreational opportunities. ADH participants have a full-range of activities to choose from including: the option to go on daily excursions, enjoy art programs, volunteer in the community, attend computer classes with the aid of assistive technology, learn money skills, participate in weekly hula classes or give back to the community through recycling programs. Provides a national toll-free phone line to answer commonly asked questions on postal service, such as service hours, zip code and address information, and mailing rates. A caller attempting to reach a postal worker in Hawaii, or who asks a question that cannot be answered by Mainland operators, will be given a local number to call. Also provides U.S. Passports and voter ballot forms also available at several Post Office locations.

Helps people who have a desire to quit drinking by sharing experiences with alcoholism and recovery. Meetings are currently in-person and on Zoom.

The Friends' mission is to generate community support for cancer research and education to prevent and reduce cancer-related deaths as well as improve the quality of life of those diagnosed with cancer. The Friends organization was established to support the Cancer Center in their quest to prevent and find cures for cancer in Hawaii. This includes the Center’s education and outreach programs for those battling cancer, and family and friends who care or are caregivers. The Friends respond to and fulfill the UH Cancer Center's need for private funds to supplement federal and state resources by coordinating fundraising events and conducting an annual friendship drive to give people like you the opportunity to play a vital role in the fight against cancer. The Hawaii Department of Human Services (DHS) continues to closely monitor the federal government shutdown and its potential impact on programs that provide essential food assistance to Hawaii families. If the federal shutdown continues into November, federal funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) program may be unavailable, which could delay or prevent the issuance of November benefits. Friends of the Library of Hawai'i (FLH) exists to promote and support the fifty public libraries that make up the Hawai'i State Public Library System. FLH promotes literacy, education, and library services. The organization supports librarians in continuing education opportunities and offers scholarships for graduate students at the University of Hawaii interested in a library career. FLH fundraises throughout the year through a number of book sales as well as a golf tournament. Volunteers are needed for events and for year-round sorting and pricing of books and media.
