Self-Help Housing Corporation of Hawaii (SHHCH) is developing the 87 lot Nanaikeola Self-Help Housing Subdivision in Nanakuli. SHHCH provides technical assistance to families with very low and low income to build their own houses through the team self-help housing method. Technical assistance includes financial counseling, loan packaging, homeownership education, and instructions on-the-job on how to build houses through the mutual self-help housing method. Under the team self-help housing approach families will build one and two story, three and four bedroom houses for $395,000, fee simple. No down payment required. Each family will contribute 32 hours/week of labor and help each other build the houses through a mass construction technique. SHHCH projects initiating the residential construction at the end of 2025.

Provides a comprehensive recreational program in the community. Facilities include a multi-purpose building and a field. There are three program periods throughout the year: Fall, spring and summer. Activities are geared for all ages, including classes in arts and crafts, games and sports. (Hilo Employment Services, ESLPR, ESLIP, ESRI) Employment services for people with barriers to employment: persons with low-income, immigrants, or individuals who were previously incarcerated. Services include assessment, job readiness training, job placement and retention, vocational training referral and assistance.

(Tutus House) Tutu's House is a community health and wellness center that provides a variety of educational programs, a lending library, health-related support groups and public access to the internet for health-related research.

Operates an adult day program for individuals with intellectual disabilities, education and vocational training programs for low-to-moderate income people including those with disabilities/special needs, and other support services. Also operates programs for seniors and the disabled offering therapeutic and recreational activities. (Note: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Wellness Center activities are temporarily closed.)

(SSO) Department of Education Seamless Summer Option (SSO) Program provides meals free of charge at participating public schools for children 1 year old - 18 years old June 9, 2026 - July 17, 2026. Children do not need to be enrolled in public school to participate. Schools will serve breakfast 7:15 am - 8:45 am and lunches from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm. There will be no meal service on the June 11, 2026 (Kamehameha Day) and July 3, 2026 (Independence Day observed) state holidays. All meals must be eaten on campus; no grab-and-go options are available. Children do not have to be enrolled at a participating school to be served, and meals will consist of solid foods. (SFMNP, Senior Farmer's Market Nutrition Program) The Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) in collaboration with our transportation department, provides seniors transportation and vouchers to farmer’s markets across the island in an effort to increase community access to fresh, local food. Program opens April 1- October 31st

United States Veterans Initiative Hawaii provides transitional housing in a safe, sober environment with case management and employment assistance for veterans.

Provides psychosocial rehabilitative services which assist individuals to develop daily and community living skills. Teaches clients to set goals for themselves, learn problem solving, handle social relationships. Utilizes self-help group experiences and pre-vocational services including educational and recreational activities. Arranges for linkages with vocational programs and job placement services for people with severe mental illness.

The Hawaii Justice Foundation provides legal service programs for legal service providers to persons with low income and conferences on access to justice issues for the general public.
