(Kapiolani Cord Blood Program, HCBB) Donating cord blood can save someone’s life. The umbilical cord blood contains the same kind of special cells as bone marrow, and like bone marrow, has been used in transplants to cure patients with otherwise fatal diseases. It’s safe, it’s free, and it’s confidential. If uncollected, umbilical cord is discarded as medical waste. Hawaii Cord Blood Bank (HCBB) offers umbilical cord donation at all 5 birthing hospitals on Oahu (Kapiolani, Queens, Kaiser, Tripler and Adventist Health Castle).

(TRY, TRY Center, Community Teen Program - Puuwai Momi) Parents And Children Together's Community's Tenacious Rooted Youth (TRY) Centers in Kuhio Park Terrace and Puuwai Momi public housing provides comprehensive development programs for youths who live in and around the housing complexes. After school programs promote the development of youth, families, and communities by providing educational activities and experiences including STEM projects, sports and recreation, community service, skill building, and support services. Programs support the growth and development of our youth by teaching leadership and life skills and encouraging positive experiences as alternatives to drugs and gangs. TRY Center activities are free and open to family residents of public housing complexes in the respective areas. Opens at 1:30pm on Wednesdays during the school year. (Act 278) Kuikahi Mediation Center has been contracted to administer the Eviction Mediation Pilot Program. This two-year pilot program requires early and free mediation between landlords and tenants before eviction for nonpayment of rent. The program runs February 5, 2026 - February 4, 2028. Tenants have 10 calendar days to respond to an eviction notice. If a tenant requests mediation in 10 day notice period, then the landlord must participate before filing for eviction. Mediation sessions are online via Zoom or in person, per request. For landlords, visit the website for more information and to submit a Landlord Intake Form to start the process.
