(Friends of Mokuula) Friends of Moku'ula Inc. assists in historic preservation and restoration of culturally significant Native Hawaiian sites in the Waine'e Ahupua'a area of Lahaina moku, including Moku'ula, a sacred island buried under a ballpark, and Mokuhinia pond wetlands. Programs include: educational programs for community, historical and cultural tours for visitors, historic site restoration, archaeology, Hawaiian cultural training, historical archive research.

Promotes commerce and industry within and between Hawaii and Japan. Focuses upon improving the business environment by supporting economic development, government affairs, international business relations, and community concerns.

(PATCH POD Program) The Preschool Open Doors (POD) program provides families with low and moderate incomes subsidies to send their children to preschool for up to two years prior to entering kindergarten.

(Hawaiis Plantation Village) Provides information on the plantation legacy of the Hawaiian Islands. Discusses eight major ethnic groups: Hawaiians, Chinese, Portuguese, Puerto Rican, Japanese, Filipino, Okinawan and Korean. Offers tours every hour on the hour.

(PSPS) Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) and Special Medical Needs Customers In the interest of safety, Hawaiian Electric may need to turn off power to communities served by electric lines in or running through high fire-threat areas when gusty winds and dry conditions, combined with a heightened fire risk, threaten a portion of the electric system. This is called a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS). -During a Public Safety Power Shutoff, ALL customers serviced by an affected power line will have their power shut off. This includes Special Medical Needs customers. -For residential customers who are on life support and have medical needs, please be sure to provide the Hawaiian Electric Company with your contact information to receive future notifications in advance of a Public Safety Power Shutoff by submitting an online Medical Needs Communications Form at https://hawaiianelectric.com/medicalneedsalerts -Though weather conditions can change quickly, Hawaiian Electric will aim to provide advance notifications for potentially affected customers beginning 48 hours before the power is turned off. In the future, additional outreach to Special Medical Needs customers may include extra phone calls or a door knock to ensure that you are aware that a Public Safety Power Shutoff is going to occur so you can make the necessary preparations to stay safe. Power outages may be serious for people who use electricity and battery dependent assistive technology and medical devices. These include customers who use respirators or ventilators, power wheelchairs, oxygen, or home dialysis machines. Power outages may also be serious for customers who rely on medication that requires refrigeration. What should I do to prepare for a power outage if I rely on an electric or battery dependent medical device? To prepare for a power outage: -Write down emergency phone numbers and keep them handy -Identify a backup location where you can go if necessary -Consider a safe backup power source, such as an electric generator or uninterruptible power supply -Regularly check that your backup or alternative power source is working properly -Teach family and friends how to operate your equipment and backup systems -Label your equipment with your name, contact information and clear instructions on how to operate the equipment -To the extent your device uses a rechargeable battery, maintain spare batteries and keep them fully charged Here are some additional tips that may be helpful for customers: -If you or someone in your family uses a life-support device, contact Hawaiian Electric about signing up for the Special Medical Needs Program to receive additional advance notifications of a power outage when possible -If you use a ventilator, keep a hand-held resuscitation bag on hand -If you depend on dialysis or other medical service, check with your provider about their service plans during an emergency -If you use oxygen, check with your provider to determine if a reduced flow rate can be used to extend the life of the system. If possible, have backup canisters available. -If you use a motorized wheelchair or scooter, have a lightweight manual wheelchair available for emergency use -If you use a generator as a backup power source, follow all of the manufacturer’s instructions to operate your generator safely

Assesses client information and circumstances to determine need and/or eligibility for services and benefits. Provides burial assistance benefits including burial, burial allowance, plot or interment allowance, headstone or grave marker, burial flags, presidential memorial certificate, dependency and indemnity compensation and other benefits. Provides escort services including accompanying and personally assisting a client to obtain service. Provides letter writing, letter reading, records repository, notary public, recordation of forms. Will file original documents, specifically DD-214s or equivalent for clients.

(After School No'eau Program) Ulu A‘e Learning Center uses a high touch, personalized approach in growing the hearts and minds of children during the out of school time though storytelling, Native Hawaiian practices and stewardship experiences. The after school time begins with homework help and moves to lessons in Native Hawaiian practices. Our facility is equipped with indoor and outdoor flexible learning spaces. Three computers are available for student use. Those with personal laptops or iPads will have access to our WIFI for the purpose of completing homework or school projects.

(ECS, Nā Lima Hana Employment Core Services - Kalihi-Palama District) The Na Lima Hana Employment Core Services program provides employment preparation training, personalized case management services, tuition assistance for vocational training, and job placement for unemployed and underemployed individuals. Person wears emblem indicating medical condition and MedicAlert number. Provides psychosocial rehabilitative services which assist individuals to develop daily and community living skills. Teaches clients to set goals for themselves, learn problem solving, handle social relationships. Utilizes self-help group experiences and pre-vocational services including educational and recreational activities. Arranges for linkages with vocational programs and job placement services for people with severe mental illness.

(HCAP STEM) The Ha Initiative: Creative STEM After-School Program is a free Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) after-school program for youth in grades 2-8. The program provides year-round tutoring, mentorship, and fun STEM activities in a safe after-school setting at five STEM Exploration Center locations on Oʻahu.

Responsible for fire protection, rescue, HazMat, emergency medical response and ocean rescue services. Provides fire prevention education. Dispatches fire fighters and rescue squad personnel for emergencies. Issues firework permits. Blood pressure screening is offered at all Kauai Fire Stations except at the Kauai Fire Department administration office.

(Neighborhood Development and Community Outreach Program (former name)) Community Services program offers an array of services to individuals and families in need. Provides food pantry on-site to those in need of food. Provides hygiene pantry for the homebound seniors. School supplies program is collaborative effort with Helping Hands Hawaii. We accept school supplies donations and help distribute them as well.
