Lanakila Teaching and Learning Centers (TLC), a program of Lanakila Pacific, assists adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities with mastering basic skills to expand their life experiences and foster a sense of independence. Focusing on each person’s individual needs, Adult Day Health programs located in Honolulu and Wahiawa offer in-house classes, community outings and recreational opportunities that can help participants build the confidence and skills needed to integrate into the community as well as engage in volunteer and pre-vocational activities. The federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides crucial food and nutritional support to qualifying low-income and needy households, and those making the transition from welfare to self-sufficiency. The SNAP processing center provides public assistance, food stamps (SNAP) and financial assistance, to eligible individuals and families. They handle new applications and ongoing assistance. A paper copy of the application can be downloaded, printed, signed and submitted via US postal mail or dropped off in the drop box. (Jdrf International - Hawaii Chapter) Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Southern California and Hawaii Chapter provides an outreach program - adult to adult mentorship that runs by volunteers, provides educational materials and information about diabetes, strives to alert the general public about the seriousness of diabetes, raises money to fund diabetes research, and has an advocacy program where they visit senators, etc. regarding diabetes government funding, children gets to travel to Washington DC to meet senators, etc. and talk about diabetes.

(Domestic Violence Advocacy) Families who are enrolled in Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) or Temporary Assistance to Other Needy Families (more commonly known as “welfare”), are required to be engaged in activities that will ultimately lead them to self-sufficiency. Program recipients for whom issues of safety and domestic violence are interfering with their progress can call upon Domestic Violence Advocacy to help them find support to change their situations. Services include: assessment, service planning, counseling services, case management and linkage and referral. Provides client advocacy for women referred by Department of Human Services (DHS) in need of case management and support to leave domestic violent relationships. Six month time period given to provide victims the opportunity to gain focus and perspective of their personal goals and career choice.

(MEO) Assists low-income individuals and legal permanent residents to become self-sufficient by providing counseling services, pre-employment training, and support services.

Provides care coordination to target populations. Participates with communities to problem-solve health issues. Provides education in women and child health, chronic diseases, etc. Facilitates access to health care. Conducts screening tests and source/contact investigations on tuberculosis (TB) cases. Provides health services in public schools, consultation services to private schools, day care, and residential care homes. Does not provide assistance for dental care.

The Reel Camps provide a courageous and safe environment for girls (cis/trans), femmes, non-binary, gender-fluid, and gender-queer youth, as well as any other youth who identify outside of the gender binary. It is a place where they can express their creativity, boost their confidence, and embark on a journey of personal transformation. Participants learn to create and share their own stories, which are meaningful and deserve to be heard and seen.

(HVOAD, VOAD, Debris Cleanup, Mud Cleanup, Disaster Cleanup, December 2021 Flood, Crisis Clean Up) Crisis Cleanup is a national coordination platform that connects disaster survivors with local volunteer organizations who may provide: Debris removal, muck-out (flood cleanup), tree and yard clearing, and/or basic sanitation of impacted areas. This service is free, but signing up does not guarantee help. Help depends on volunteer availability and capacity. Priority is given to Kupuna (elderly individuals), people with disabilities or access/functional needs, and households with limited resources.

(Ohana Connections Program) The core beliefs of the program are: all children entering foster care have the right to know and connect with their family, a right to learn about their family history, a right to maintain their family relationships, and a right to belong to a family, community, and place. Like all children, they deserve to feel stable, secure, and loved. The ‘Ohana Connections Program, working in conjunction with the ‘Ohana Finding Program, finds and engages the foster youth’s family members and other kinship family, and then helps nurture and support those renewed family connections.
