(SNAP Replacement Benefits) --The deadline to apply for replacement benefits for certain zip codes has been extended until April 2, 2026 or April 9, 2026-- A Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) replacement is a replacement of food purchased with SNAP benefits that was destroyed in a fire, flood, natural disaster, or other household misfortune. The request must be submitted within ten (10) days of the event that caused the loss of food. The amount of the replacement benefit is for the actual amount of food lost, up to a maximum of one month’s benefit amount. Requests can be made verbally or in writing. You can drop off, or email, the APPLICATION FOR REPLACEMENT OF FOOD or a written statement to any Department of Human Services SNAP Processing Center. A written statement should include the following information: Person’s name, person’s phone number, person’s email, case number if known, dollar amount of food lost due to the storm/power outage, and the date of the occurrence as well as additional supporting information that may be helpful.
