Eligibility

Persons who lost their vehicle or need help evacuating to an emergency shelter may be eligible. One you waive down a bus on Route 521 (Waialua–Haleiwa) or a Makaha-Nanakuli bus you must tell the driver you are evacuating.

North Shore Starting at 10:00 am, TheBus Route 521 (Waialua–Haleiwa) will operate its regular route. Riders going to a shelter can flag down the bus anywhere along the route (no bus stop required) One you waive down a bus on Route 521 (Waialua–Haleiwa) you must tell the driver you are evacuating. The fare-free for evacuees will be: Step 1: Flag down a bus on Route 521 with transport to Weed Circle. Step 2: Transfer to Route 52 (fare-free) Step 3: Route 52 to Wahiawa Transit Center (near shelter access) Shelter at George Fred Wright Wahiawa District Park, 1139 Kilani Ave, Wahiawa, Hawaii, 96786 opens April 8, 2026 1:00 pm. Makaha-Nanakuli Waive down a Makaha-Nanakuli bus along Farrington Highway between Makaha Beach Park and Nanakuli Beach Park. The bus will drop people off at the Nanakuli High and Intermediate shelter: 89-890 Nanakuli Avenue, Waianae, HI 96792.
