Eligibility

Individuals 14 years and older who have time to donate and want to help the community. Minimum 3 month commitment. Must be able to work a set schedule of a three-four hour shift once a week. Must be able to provide a current 2-step TB skin test.

Oahu

Welcomes and accepts volunteers (including high school students, college students, working adults and senior retirees). Volunteers assist Health System employees with acute care, long-term care and geriatric care. Duties range from clerical support to companionship activities within nursing home residents or patient assistance at the medical center. Volunteers also participate in hospital tours for visitors. Volunteers are accepted year round. Upon acceptance into the program, volunteers attend a general orientation given by the supervisor of their assigned department. Most volunteers work one to two times a week and a minimum of three hours a shift. Weekends are available.
