Person must: -Be experiencing a financial hardship (financial need resulting from an unexpected event such as involuntary loss of employment, natural disaster, displacement from a damaged home, or involuntary reduction in earnings or financial resource) -Have a household income at or below 300% of the Federal Poverty Level (visit the website for a chart of monthly or yearly income levels per family size) -Have immediate family members who are Hawaii residents -Have at least one family member who is a US citizen or qualified immigrant -Have a dependent child or is someone in their third trimester of pregnancy -Have a valid lease or mortgage for a primary residence in Maui County

(Hawaii Relief Program) Maui Economic Opportunity has been contracted to administer the Hawaii Relief Program. Eligible applicants may receive up to four months of financial assistance, including: -Up to 4 months of rent or mortgage (up to $6,000 per month) -One time security deposit (actual housing deposit amount up to the maximum of $6,000) -Up to 4 months of utility assistance ($2,000 per month per utility source) -One time Utility deposit (up to $3,000 per utility source). Utility payments may include electricity, gas, or water expense, or a combination of these utility sources. Water expense may include sewer service fees. Payments are made directly to landlords, mortgage lenders, or utility providers.
