Rent to Work Program

Persons or families that are validated as meeting the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) definition of “homelessness” (sheltered or unsheltered) or are at risk of becoming homeless, with total household income at or below 60% of the Area Median Income and are willing to work.

If you are living in a transitional or emergency shelter, please obtain a referral letter from your case manager. Provide the verification letter in person or fax to (808) 832-7805.
Oahu
The Rent-to-Work Program (RTW) provides rental assistance and support services to persons experiencing homelessness who are willing to maintain employment or increase income through employment. The participant must develop and follow an individualized employment and training plan to increase income. Services include: Short-term rental subsidy for 12-24 months, housing placement assistance, tansition to affordable housing (if available), job placement/job training, and intensive case management.
